CA CSEFEL Teaching Pyramid Coaching Application

WestEd is offering a Training for Coaches Institute in San Diego February 27-March 2, 2017.

Becoming a CA CSEFEL Teaching Pyramid authorized coach is a two-phase apprenticeship process and this Institute covers the initial phase in four days. This application process will assist us in determining who is the best fit among those interested in becoming authorized CA CSEFEL Teaching Pyramid Coaches.

The application is required if you are interested in being considered for the Training for Coaches Institute. Fellowships are available for qualified applicants that cover lodging, many meals, and materials. A registration fee of $125 is also required. The fellowships will be awarded to qualified applicants based on regional need. Priority will be given to those willing to commit to the second phase of the process (see below). In addition, a limited number of full-fee slots will be available to qualified applicants on a first come, first served basis.

• This institute, Phase 1, would require a “pre-training” WebEx and full attendance at the Institute (from noon Monday, February 27 to noon Thursday March 2). There will be intensive work, practice, and reading during the Institute.
  

• Following completion of Phase 1, you will be able to support classrooms that are implementing the CA CSEFEL Teaching Pyramid as part of your other coaching, but would not be able to provide authorized CA CSEFEL Teaching Pyramid coaching. That would require Phase 2
  

• Phase 2 allows you to complete the process toward authorization in the CA CSEFEL Teaching Pyramid. Phase 2 includes observation of your coaching by WestEd Master Coaches and costs $3500 per coach. Phase 2 may happen during 2017-18 or 2018-19.

• In Phase 2, you would need to provide focused CA CSEFEL Teaching Pyramid coaching to at least one classroom outside of your own agency that is completing or has recently completed the CA CSEFEL Teaching Pyramid Module Training. WestEd will assist in identifying a classroom for you.
  

• For this classroom, you would make 4 visits during a 6-8 month period with one hour observation and one hour meeting with teaching team each time, and completion of reflective paperwork, Coach Action Plans, plus 5 coach training WebEx meetings during this process. Outside reading also will need to be done before each training.
  

• A WestEd Master Coach will observe at least two of your coaching sessions, either in person or via video recording.

Following our review of the applications, we will notify you regarding the your qualifications, if you are eligible for a scholarship, and how to register for the Institute.
